Month 2 in Review: Introducing the Competitions Tab
We're breaking down the newest challenge type on Setly.
This week we released another huge update to the app with the addition of the Competitions tab, a dedicated home for community challenges. This update is part of our broader vision to bring challenges to the forefront of Setly by making them more frequent, more varied, and easier to jump into.
At the center of this update is Combinations, a brand-new challenge type built around a swipe-based slot system. Instead of building an outfit from scratch, you swipe through curated item slots to quickly mix and match looks. Every Combination Challenge has one required item that everyone must use, so your goal is to style the strongest possible outfit around that single piece.
We’ve heard again and again how much you love challenges, so this new update is the foundation for a much richer challenge ecosystem moving forward.
A Few Other Upgrades This Week
Beyond the Competitions tab, we also shipped a handful of improvements that make Setly feel more connected and intuitive. You’ll now see an indicator on profile pages showing whether you’ve ever styled someone (and if they’ve styled you) and whether an outfit you made for them is still pending approval. Huge shoutout to @eugeniachieng for suggesting this!
Another highly requested feature now live: you can retroactively save a challenge outfit to your closet. If you build a great outfit during a challenge but forget to save it, you can now go back and add it to your closet without having to recreate it from scratch.

What’s Coming Next
With the Competitions tab out in the world, we’re already deep into the next round of updates. Here’s a sneak peek at what’s coming soon:
Major performance improvements to make the app faster, smoother, and far less crash-prone, especially during heavy outfit creation flows.
A streamlined Combinations flow, allowing you to submit a combination and instantly open it on the outfit canvas to continue building and save it to your closet.
And of course, many more refinements based on the things you message us about every day.
